Do apologise on the lack of posting recently! University exams have begun so I’ve obviously been prioritising revision! Thought I’d do a couple reviews of beauty products I’ve used up and let you know my thoughts!!
First up is the Soap and Glory ‘Sugar Crush’ body wash. This is great value for money, it is £6.50 for 500ml and it lasts forever!!! The formula is really creamy and moisturising, doesn’t dry out your skin at all. The only downside is the scent, it isn’t for everyone. I personally got used to the smell, but at first it was super overpowering and I know a few people who really do not like the smell. It’s very sweet smell, hence the name, but it’s very invigorating and good for a morning pick-me-up! I absolutely love Soap and Glory and their products are always topnotch! I am currently using their ‘Clean Girls’ body wash which is amazing! I highly recommend their bodywashes, but advice to give them a sniff before you purchase, just in case the scent isn’t of your taste!
Time for another Soap and Glory product!! This the their ‘Flake Away’ body scrub, which has their signature scent. It is amazing, I can’t recommend this enough! It was £8.00 and I think it is one of the nicest smelling scrub of their collection. The scrub is a perfect balance of exfoliation and moisturising, the sea salt does such a good job and dissolves as you work it into your skin. I suffer from a mild Keratosis Pilaris, which is a really common dry skin condition and this works wonders! Especially this time of year where my skin seems the be the most dry for some reason, after I have used this my skin is as soft as a baby’s bum!!
Now for the wonderful Tresemme! When I did my weekly Tesco (food store in the UK) I always used to avoid cashing out on Tresemme shampoo and conditioner becuase i used to think it was way too expensive for a student like me! However, this was on offer, so me being me got sucked in and bought it. And boy am I pleased I was!! This is such good value for money!!! They usually sell for £4.99 each, but they last FOREVER!! I went a term and a half with these babies (October to February) I am currently onto my second bottles of these and they’ve still got a lot left! Considering brands like Aussie that are £3.99 for 300ml shows how amazing the value is! I highly highly recommend Tresemme products, they’re great for your hair, they really protected the colour and my hair always felt super healthy! I went without a colour and cut from September to this Easter (struggles of being a student away from home aye!) and my hair didn’t look damaged considering I curl my hair about 90% of the time I go out! My highlights we’re still in good condition, although I did have mild roots (my hairs naturally blonde so my roots are that noticeable anyway) but that’s because my hair grows at the speed of light! I would 100% recommend Tresemme Shampoo and Conditioner. Another bonus is that they’re usually on offer in Tesco anyway!
Along with the Tresemme shampoo and conditioner I’ve been using their Heat Defence spray. This is also fabulous! It smells so nice and really does a good job! I can’t go without this anymore!! I definitely believe that this combined with the shampoo and conditioner have really helped maintain healthy hair! I highly recommend this product! Once again, Tresemme has scored top marks!! This was £5.25 from Boots.
This is the only makeup product I’ve finished that I haven’t already reviewed. This was rather disappointing if you ask me! I was okay at actually being waterproof and being an absolute hell to remove as per usual for waterproof mascaras!! I was really let down by this mascara, considering their regular The Falsies is pretty awesome. I felt it wasn’t as dramatic as the regular, which I seem to find in the majority of waterproof versions of regular ones. It also majorly flaked and left me with nice black panda eyes, and it also marked the tops of my eyes just below my eyebrows! Not a great look!! I definitely will not be repurchasing this! I am now on the hunt for a good waterproof mascara now that Summer is approaching! So if you have any recommendations do give me a shout! This retailed at £7.99 from Boots.
Now for skincare! For the past couple of months I’ve seemed to have really problematic skin, which I’ve never really had before! Throughout puberty I never suffered from Acne or anything, I just had the odd imperfection at that ‘time of the month’!! However, for some reason my hormones must have gone into overdrive and I came out with some pretty crappy skin around my chin. I used this after using proper medical cream which got the worst of it! But I started using La Roche-Posay ‘Effaclar Duo’ and it is incredible!! It just seemed to get rid of the little buggers that never seemed to want to budge and got rid of them quick! Every time I have a breakout now, I just wack this on and they’re gone. I’d use this morning and night. It’s a nice smell, not medical at all. It not overly drying like most acne like products, although I must stress this is not a replacement for moisturiser! You’ll need to moisturise, even if you feel you have oily skin, by moisturising you’ll create an oil balance! As odd as it sounds you’re skin is probably overcompensating for the lack of oil from not moisturising by creating more oil on your face, (it’s hard to explain! I’m no dermatologist!) Thus if you moisturise daily, you’ll most likely end up with a less oily face! But anyway, if you’re skins being annoying I highly recommend this!!! This is a lifesaver! It cost £15.50 from Boots, and as they say ‘it is probably the last anti-blemish cream you’ll ever use…’ and boy they’re not lying!!
Last and by no means least is Una Brennan’s Super Facialist ‘Tea Flower Deep Clean Pore Purifying Clay Mask’. As I was suffering from problematic skin I wanted to get a mask that would help along with the creams that I was using. This is really lovely and totally worth the money! This really digs into your pores and sucks out all the dirt!! (You can see the little oily dots where it draws all the mucky stuff out!) It’s awesome, my skin literally looks so much more brighter and even. It definitely helped imperfections. You leave it on for about 5 minutes, although you can leave it on for a little longer and it doesn’t dry you skin out at all. When I wash it off, my face feels so refreshed. It costs £8.99 which is an absolute bargain! I am without a doubt repurchasing this!!!
I hope you like these little reviews!
